Unwound

It was a first for me last night. I always wind. In all the years of my life I have never knit off an unwound skein. My friend LeAnne always does it. I was over the other night and she calmly laid her unwound skein on the arm of her chair and knit. I didn't gawk, I just went on knitting from my BALL of yarn. Knitting in public I can do, no sweat, but from a skein.?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWell last night I broke down. It was 11:00, I was into the Sophie Bag zipping along, (remember in my drugged state this is about all I can do,) knitting from two balls, when one ran out. I went to my yarn shelf and found the third SKEIN - oh no. I broke down, I couldn't wind it, I couldn't get out the swift and winder, I couldn't get the chair in the right spot. I just did it. I untied the skein and laid it over the arm of the couch.

This morning I have a new found freedom and think since I only have 20 more rows to go, I may just not wind. So have you ever done that, been unwound - or do you always wind?

hahaha, you crack me up. Yes, I always knit in public. It is just weird how many weird looks I get. I'm always amazed. I told Cameron the other night that I can't wait till he drives because then I can knit in the car more!

I always always wind, usually all at once before I start a project. I believe in stash, so I do not fear the return policy of any LYS about would skeins. Besides, I can't be sure that at any given moment some random child or dog or cat won't come swooping down out of the sky and mess up my knitting as it is!

I have always wound in the past, but seeing how you made it sound so freeing, I just might give it a try! Beautiful yarn and Beautiful knitting!

Eek! That gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about me trying to knit from a skein. Why that's like flying without wings, eating chocolate without gaining weight...it flings itself right into the face of nature. Kudos for making it work for you. It would make me talk to myself even more than I do now....(shuffles off...knitting without winding...oh my)

Ok truth be told, I woke up in the morning and wound the yarn. And it was a realy pain cause I didn't want to break the yarn, so couldn't put it on the swift or chair, and it tangled. Be warned if you ever want to move your knitting don't try this at home.
