Color Me Spring

Well, LeAnne called today around lunch time to see if I was ok. She said I had not had a blog entry in so long she was worried. But I have been busy. My excuses - first on the week ends S #4 uses the computer that I do pictures on. Life is crazy, Superbowl Sunday, and really putting a business plan together to open a yarn store. Knitting - sock for S #3 - and he is demanding. I love knitting for him cause he asks and really understands the love involved - but a sock in a day with life to take care of is not really do able.

I have been on a pink and orange trend lately as I try to brighten up my clothes. Then on Monday I stopped to talk to my friend who owns Aubergine in Portland and she said the trends for spring are aqua and fall blues and browns, some how over the course of 3 days when I look around my house I see that aqua yarn sneaking in and I really like it. So much so that I may have a hard time finishing the pink and orange market square bag.

But aren't these colors gorgeous?

So tell me about you and colors you knit, research and curiosity. How much do you follow your same colors and how much does the fashion world influence your yarn colors?

Just thought I would reply to your questions on colour. Trends dont really affect my choices, I try to knit with colours that compliment the recipient. And after reviewing my stash I'd have to say that the most popular colors are various shades of pink :)
Good luck with the Store, how exciting!

I saw your post on Color while cruising through the SP4 blog listings.

I gravitate towards aquas/blues/greens, purples and blacks in yarns and in beads. Since I sell my bead work I force myself to go to colors I may not normally go to given the choice.

I ignore the edicts of fashion mainly because of my coloring I can't wear things like Orange, Yellow and Pastels. But I have always marched to my own band.

I don't follow trends for colors. I follow the Trends Of LeAnne. Like now, I'm into orange and pink (like you). I don't look good in orange and I don't care. When I bought my orange yarn for my Airy Cardigan I told the woman at Yarn Garden that I didn't look good in orange and she looked at me and said, "I never think of things like that". So now, I have just knitted on what I want to see. By the way, at Naturals they have a 10 stitch bulky scarf that you could knit in an hour or two for $10 and they priced it at (ready?) $190!!!! That's right, one hundred ninety DOLLARS. Go look.

hi alice! i love all things orange, but i don't look good in it. so i pick orange for accessory items, as well as other bright colors. but for knitted clothing items, i tend to go for black or other naturals. however, i am working on kyoto right now in aqua and pewter. i'd never pick aqua on purpose, but it was a great bargain, and i thought it would look great on the sweater (not necessarily on me!). so i guess for me, color choice depends on the item i'm working on. i don't necessarily follow trends, but if i happen to like a color that is currently in fashion, it makes me like it all the more! :)

I'm a sucker for earth-tones, especially heather greys & browns and creams with little flecks of color - I have a rough time passing up yarn in those colors. After that I like blues & greens.

Oooooooh colour! Yes I love those colours. And colour affects everything I do, and I am not in the slightest unbecalmed by trend or fashion. Never have been. Colour does something for me deep inside and I have a slight synaesthesia, in that I feel it as well as see it. I hate what synthetic fibres do to dyes. And I don't like synthetic dyes either. Lovely blog you've got here :)

The only way trends influence me is in my ability to find what I am looking for! I stick to "my" colors...when they are available. I do break out of my box by knitting for others...who have different tastes and color palettes.
